THE BIRTH EXPERIENCE SERVICES
Initial Interview
This is a no obligation meeting. It is a time for us to talk about what your vision is for your birth and how I might best be able to help you achieve that vision. We will go over the contract and discuss my fees at this time.
Prenatal Visits
My husband and I will meet with you and your partner 1-2 more times. This time will be used to create an individualized birth plan, discuss any fears either of you may have, and answer any questions.
Unlimited Phone Calls and Emails
We are available throughout your pregnancy for both of you to answer questions or just talk.
24 Hour On Call Availability
I am available 24/7 during your on-call time, which starts two weeks before your due date and continues until you go into labor.
Labor Support
While your nurses and doctor/midwife may come and go, I am with you continuously throughout your labor and birth to help you hold and move towards the vision you created for your baby’s birth.
Initial Postpartum
After the birth of your new little one, I will stay for up to 2 hours postpartum. I will help with initial breastfeeding, baby care, helping mom and dad get comfortable, and if desired, call all those waiting to hear the news.
Postpartum Visits
I usually make the first visit in the hospital the next day to help with any breastfeeding concerns and make sure mama is healing well. We will then set up a time for me (my husband also if desired) to visit you at home within one week of coming home (don’t worry about the mess!). I want to ensure breastfeeding has been well established, answer any questions and discuss concerns, and give you tips and tricks to help with frustrations. However, I’m also available by phone almost anytime.
C-section
If your birth experience expectantly/unexpectedly turns into a c-section, you will have extra time for your postpartum care home visit.
Daddy-to-be
My husband is there to support him through unlimited emails and phone calls up to labor and during the postpartum time. The emotional roller coaster of labor is not the mother’s alone. I can help the father in taking away the pressure of being the “coach” leaving him free to experience the intimate, amazing wonder that is the birth of a new child. I am there to help him be as participatory as he desires. If you aren’t sure what that looks like, don’t hesitate to ask!
If there is another service that you have thought about I am more than happy to negotiate that with you.
Your investment in my birthing experience services is $195. I require a retainer fee at the time of booking and the balance is due two weeks before your due date unless other arrangements have been made. I think everyone should be able to have a doula; therefore I have payment options available.
POSTPARTUM CARE SERVICES
My goal is to teach your family how to “mother the mother”, and provide information to inspire confidence so you can mother your new little one more effectively. You may find once you get home assistance is needed to settle in, or perhaps after your partner goes back to work you feel a little overwhelmed. We will work together to create a personalized plan so you can gain some sanity and restore a rhythm back to your day.
Some of the services I can offer:
~breastfeeding support
~emotional support and observation for possible postpartum depression
~light housekeeping
~meal preparation (my hubby is a fantastic cook)
~nursery and home management
~newborn care
~running errands
~day and overnight care
~techniques, and tips to begin the building of a solid relationship between the family and baby.
~help with baby and/or siblings for pediatric appointments or if you just want to take a quiet shower.
This is just a few of the ways I can help you. I like to start by meeting for an hour so we can get to know each other and I can create a plan specific to your family’s needs. To be fully prepared, I think it is best if you settle on a postpartum doula before the birth. If you aren’t sure you will need my services after the baby arrives, we can still meet for the initial consultation to gauge where you are at.
